New Recreation and Walking Areas Created in Zhetysu District of Almaty

In the Zhetysu District of Almaty, public spaces, courtyards, and embankments are being revitalized. The renovation of Jetysu Park and Kazibayev Street has already been completed, and by the end of November, seven more projects out of 25 under the 'People's Participation Budget' program, as well as the renovation of the Karasu embankment, are expected to be finished. Akim of the district, Kurasbek Sadibekov, shared updates on the progress at a briefing of the Regional Communications Service.

On Kazibayev Street, an area over a kilometer long and 2.3 hectares wide has been improved. Walking zones and automatic irrigation have been introduced, with over 21,000 shrubs and more than 60 large trees planted. In Jetysu Park, which spans 3.6 hectares, pathways were renewed, greenery and lighting were enhanced, and an automatic irrigation system was installed. Work is ongoing on Palladina Street to renovate the pedestrian area and improve the surrounding space.

"On Kazibayev, we managed to create a convenient walking space while greening the area. In Jetysu Park, pathways and lighting were updated, and automatic watering will help maintain the plants. Similar comprehensive work is now being done on Palladina Street," reported Kurasbek Sadibekov.

Under the 'People's Participation Budget' program, 25 projects are being implemented in the district: 18 have already been completed, and seven more are planned to be finished by the end of November. A new park is being built in place of the former Rahat market with sponsorship funds. The renovation of the Karasu River embankment in the Kemel microdistrict is also in its final stages, stretching over a kilometer.

Current repairs have covered seven courtyard areas. Work has been finished in four of them: on Ratushny Street, children's playgrounds, rest areas, and landscaping were updated, and automatic watering was installed. A children's playground and a football field have been set up on Ryskulov Avenue. Three more courtyards are being upgraded in the Kokzhiek microdistrict: there, three children's playgrounds, two football fields, and one sports field will be modernized.

"In the participation program, residents themselves propose which spaces and areas need updating in their neighborhood. Now it's important to complete the remaining projects on time and consider the needs of people who will use these spaces every day. In Kokzhiek courtyards, there are provisions for children's areas, football fields, and a sports zone," noted the akim.

Simultaneously, the district is conducting community cleanup events and ecological campaigns. Since the beginning of the year, over 46 such events have been held, involving more than 28,000 participants. More than 7,500 cubic meters of waste have been removed during this period.

"Beautification doesn't end after a park opens or a yard is renewed. It's essential to maintain cleanliness and monitor the condition of sites and greenery. This year, thousands of residents have joined in cleanups and ecological events. Their involvement helps keep the district orderly," added Kurasbek Sadibekov.
