Over 1 Trillion Tenge Worth of Contracts Signed with China in Almaty Region

A trade and economic forum between the Almaty Region and Shaanxi Province was held today in China, organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Xi'an. According to the press service of the Akim of Almaty Region, the event resulted in significant agreements.

During the business forum, the Almaty Region delegation, led by Marat Sultangaziev, signed 24 memorandums with Chinese companies. The parties discussed projects and conducted negotiations focused on innovations grounded in mutual trust and respect. Consequently, a list of business projects in transport logistics, agriculture, construction, biotechnology, and IT was compiled, with a total value exceeding 1 trillion tenge.

Marat Sultangaziev, citing the words of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, emphasized that Kazakhstan remains open for partnership and investment.

"Today, we are collaborating with major international investors who trust the region and are implementing important projects. China is our largest trading partner, neighbor, and an age-old friend. The Almaty Region borders the People's Republic of China directly, which creates favorable conditions for trade, logistics, industry, and cross-border projects. This is why we are holding this forum," noted the regional akim.

Marat Sultangaziev also pointed out the dynamic development of the Almaty Region, which engenders high levels of investor trust. He reported that the region is implementing 259 investment projects totaling 7.9 trillion tenge, which will create over 155,000 permanent jobs. Of these, 73 projects with a total value of 4.5 trillion tenge involve foreign investors, with more than 65,000 job opportunities planned.

In the past three years, trade between the Almaty Region and China has exceeded 1 billion US dollars, with 143 enterprises operating with Chinese capital in the area.

The forum also highlighted the construction of the new city of Alatau, which, according to Marat Sultangaziev, will boost regional development and provide a conducive environment for living and business.

"Investments are not just capital; they are also an expression of trust and genuine partnership. Therefore, foreign companies operating in Almaty Region see the potential of the area and are undertaking long-term and unique projects," he added.

Further collaboration with China envisions the implementation of major investment projects that will significantly contribute to the development of the Almaty Region and open new horizons.
