Waste Processing Complex to Be Established in Taldykorgan at a Cost of 11 Billion Tenge
A new waste processing complex begins construction in Taldykorgan, costing 11 billion tenge, enhancing waste management in the Zhetisu Region.
In the Zhetisu Region, construction has begun on a modern facility dedicated to sorting, processing, and thermally utilizing waste. The project, funded with private investments totaling 11 billion tenge, aims to enhance the region's waste management system.
As part of the national environmental initiative 'Taza Qazaqstan,' efforts have intensified to improve waste management systems and beautify public areas. The construction of this new facility marks a significant step in developing effective infrastructure for processing municipal waste in the city of Taldykorgan and the surrounding districts.
The region currently operates 182 temporary waste storage sites and 7 landfills, with 24 specialized organizations responsible for waste collection and disposal. Waste processing is handled by 6 enterprises, with a combined capacity of 68,800 tons per year. Deputy Head of the Regional Department of Energy and Housing and Communal Services, Dias Dosmukhanov, noted that the complex will serve not only Taldykorgan but also nearby cities and districts, which collectively produce about 120,000 tons of waste annually.
The project will create 70 jobs and supports ongoing environmental initiatives. Since early 2026, under the 'Taza Qazaqstan' program, 180 activities have been conducted, involving over 100,000 participants, planting 58,000 seedlings, and removing 9,000 tons of waste.
Additionally, this year, funds are allocated for the beautification of public spaces, courtyards, sports areas, and the improvement of street lighting. It is planned to plant 121,000 seedlings by the end of the year.
Feedback from residents is facilitated through the Telegram bot 'Taza Qazaqstan,' which has received 814 requests to date. Overall, the 'Taza Qazaqstan' program contributes not only to environmental improvements but also to the creation of a comfortable urban environment in the Zhetisu Region.
