Over 170 Courtyards Revamped in Saryarka District Over Recent Years

In the Saryarka district of Kazakhstan's capital, more than 170 courtyards have been renovated in recent years. This initiative includes the creation of new public spaces, the renewal of courtyards, streets, and squares, as well as the expansion of green areas.

In the past few years, the district has seen the emergence of over 30 new public spaces, with the redeveloped areas featuring modern relaxation zones, children's and sports playgrounds, gazebos, and new lighting. The projects are executed with residents' input, from courtyard planning to the placement of play and sports zones.

Special attention is paid to the historic part of Saryarka. Over the past four years, 12 streets and 15 squares and public spaces have been renovated. The total area of improved territories exceeds 96,000 square meters. The work includes the refurbishment of pedestrian areas and lighting, installation of modern street furniture, and greening efforts.

Upgrades have touched streets such as Birzhan Sal and Goethe, Beibitshilik, as well as the area in front of the "Zhastar" theater. In 2025, plans are underway to enhance streets like A. Mambetov, T. Biegildinov, and Goethe, along with avenues Abay and Respublika, and the square near the Y. Rakhmadiev State Academic Philharmonic.

In 2026, works continue: since the start of the year, 20 courtyards and three public spaces have been developed. Projects have been carried out in the Agrogradok residential area, Koktal-1, and on Zhienis Avenue. One of the major undertakings this year is the reconstruction of Keneesary Street, from Respublika Avenue to Saryarka Avenue, covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters.

The project includes upgrades to pedestrian infrastructure, the creation of a barrier-free environment, installation of modern lighting systems and urban furniture, alongside new relaxation zones. A key aspect of the development is greening: over 220 trees, more than 5,500 shrubs, and perennial flowers have already been planted.

Additionally, a new public space is being developed in the Agrogradok area at 107 K. Baiseyitova Street. Thus, the Saryarka district is undergoing a transformation, providing comfortable conditions for residents. It is worth noting that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev previously instructed the continuation of systematic work on the urban infrastructure development, beautification, and greening of Astana. Beautification work is being performed across all six districts of the capital. In recent years, approximately 500 public and courtyard spaces have been improved in Astana.
