1 GW 'Pavlodar Green Energy' Project Discussed in Pavlodar Region

The Ministry of Energy, along with the leadership of the Chinese energy corporation State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), has discussed the progress of the project aimed at constructing a 1 GW wind power plant in the Pavlodar Region.

During the working meeting, the parties reviewed the current status of the project, as well as the next steps for its implementation.

The project is being executed by SPIC in cooperation with LLP 'Pavlodar Green Energy' in the vicinity of the city of Ekibastuz. The total amount of direct foreign investment for the construction is $1.2 billion. The wind power plant is scheduled to be commissioned by 2029.

The project involves the construction of a wind power plant with an energy storage system with a capacity of 300 MW/600 MWh. Implementing the project will enhance the electricity production from renewable sources and increase the resilience of the region's energy system.

The meeting also covered promising areas for energy cooperation and the potential for implementing new joint projects.

Following the discussions, the parties confirmed their interest in further collaboration in carrying out investment initiatives in Kazakhstan's energy sector.
