Kazakhstan Allocates 384 Billion Tenge for Heating Season Preparation

Kazakhstan is actively preparing its energy sector for the upcoming heating season. This year, 384 billion tenge has been allocated for the repair of power plants, electrical and thermal networks, representing a 9% increase over last year. The work is proceeding according to the approved schedule and covers key generation and infrastructure facilities. This was announced by the Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenshenov, at a Government meeting.

It was noted that by 2026, repairs are planned for 9 power units, 55 boilers, and 51 turbines at power plants. Currently, repairs are underway on 3 power units, 33 boilers, and 24 turbines.

The repair campaign has been budgeted 384 billion tenge, which exceeds last year's level by 9%.

Additionally, the regional power grid companies have planned repairs for 17,100 km of power lines and 444 substations. As of now, repairs have been completed on 91% of the power lines and 84% of the substations.

In heating networks, reconstruction and major repairs are being carried out on 377 km of thermal networks, with 246 km or 65% completed.

The Minister also noted a positive trend in the improved reliability of the energy system. In the first seven months of the current year, the number of technological disruptions at power plants decreased by 5.6%.

Energy facilities' fuel storage now holds 4.2 million tons of coal and 137,000 tons of fuel oil, which is a 2% increase over last year.

The Ministry has approved a schedule for the supply of "social" fuel oil, totaling 255,000 tons starting in September.
