Kazakhstan and Japan Discuss Future Collaboration in the Energy Sector

The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, held a meeting with Kenji Yamada, Japan's Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of Kazakh-Japanese cooperation in the energy and economic sectors, as well as the ongoing support for high-level agreements already in place.

Special emphasis was placed on collaboration in the oil and gas sector, including issues related to the development of refining infrastructure, attracting investment, and the implementation of modern technologies.

Yerlan Akkenzhenov highlighted Kazakhstan's interest in expanding long-term cooperation with Japanese partners, who possess significant technological and investment potential. Kazakhstan, in turn, offers a substantial resource base, advantageous geographical location, and favorable conditions for large-scale investment projects.

Particular attention during the talks was given to developing partnerships in renewable energy and low-carbon development. Kazakhstan is interested in further attracting Japanese companies to carry out renewable energy projects and to collaborate on bilateral climate and technological initiatives.

The parties also exchanged views on the development of the electricity sector, modernization of energy infrastructure, and enhancing the reliability of energy supply.
