Astana Highlights the Importance of Road Safety for Waste Collection Drivers

In Astana, informational meetings have been organized for drivers of companies involved in the collection and removal of solid waste as part of the 'Law and Order' initiative. The event was held with the participation of the city's Police Department and the Environmental Protection and Natural Resource Management Department.

The aim of the informational campaign is to emphasize to drivers of specialized vehicles the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and preventing road accidents.

"During the campaign, we visited three city companies responsible for waste collection. Our goal is to reach all drivers, so the meetings were held at different times: the first at five in the morning, the second at noon, and the third at five in the evening," said Zhanar Sadvakasova, Head of the Waste Management Department at the Environmental Protection and Natural Resource Management Department.

During the meetings, drivers were reminded of the requirements of the Traffic Regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Previous traffic incidents in the city were also discussed, as well as measures to prevent them.

The inspection of specialized vehicle drivers before shifts and the technical condition of garbage trucks are regularly monitored.

"Garbage trucks enter residential courtyards, so drivers are required to reduce speed and exercise increased caution when maneuvering. It is necessary to remain highly vigilant and strictly adhere to traffic regulations. During the meetings, special attention was paid to children's safety and the movement of specialized vehicles near schools and kindergartens," said Police Captain Aset Ayatkhan from the Administrative Police Department of the Astana Police Department.

Water Supply Issues Solved in Saryozek, Network Modernization Begins in Kogaly, Zhetisu

The water supply issues for residents of Saryozek village in Zhetisu have been resolved, and the modernization of water supply networks is set to begin in the remote village of Kogaly. This was announced by the Akim of Zhetisu, Beibit Isabayev, during a meeting with the residents of Kerebulak District.

Currently, about 93% of settlements in Zhetisu have centralized water supply. During the meeting, the region's head informed residents about the water supply projects completed in the villages of Saryozek, Akbastau, and Tastyözek:

  • Last year's meeting promised to finish the project by 2026. As part of this project, 110 kilometers of new water networks have been laid, providing drinking water to 3,169 subscribers. Social and commercial facilities are also connected to the new system. Now, I task the district akim with preparing an application for the modernization of Kogaly village's water supply networks to include in next year's budget, - noted B. Isabayev.

In total, 59 out of 63 settlements in the district have centralized water supply. This year, maintenance work on water networks has been carried out in the villages of Altynemel, Koksai, and Koktal.

We used to have many problems with water. Since connecting to the new network this year, water is supplied without interruptions. Gas has been installed in the house, which wouldn’t have been possible without water. The washing machine and other appliances are now operational thanks to this. I've lived in Saryozek for over 30 years; my wife works as a midwife at the district hospital. I am currently retired. With warmth and water, I rest peacefully. I no longer need to stockpile coal and wood or heat the stove and dispose of ash, - shared Saryozek resident Kabiken Anikpayev.
We built a house in a new neighborhood six years ago. For four years, we faced severe water difficulties, carrying water in barrels. Now this problem is resolved. There's water in the tap, and with the introduction of gas, we forgot about the stove. We now live as well as in the city, - said local resident Sholpan Tynyshbaiqyzy.

Additionally, ongoing repairs are being conducted on the sewage system in four apartment buildings at the Malaisary station. The work is scheduled to be completed by November.

Last year, we approached the regional akim regarding sewage repairs in our buildings. Then, the district akim was tasked with overseeing this issue. Work began around April, with only a small part remaining. Representatives from the contractor promise to finish by November, - reported Malaisary station resident Marat Shymbolatuly.

This year, water supply work is being carried out in 11 settlements in Zhetisu. By the end of the year, work will be completed in eight settlements, with the remaining three continuing into next year.
