Over 1.4 Million Residents in Astana Participate in 'Clean Kazakhstan' Eco Campaigns
Over 1.4 million residents in Astana join the 'Clean Kazakhstan' eco campaigns to enhance environmental responsibility and beautify the city through various initiatives.

In Astana, environmental initiatives have become an integral part of daily life. As part of the nationwide 'Clean Kazakhstan' campaign, citizens are involved in beautifying areas, planting trees, and cleaning up riverbanks and public spaces. The main goal of these efforts is not only to make the city cleaner and greener but also to foster a sense of environmental responsibility, reports the official website of Astana's city administration.
Over the years, more than 1.4 million people in the capital have joined the 'Clean Kazakhstan' environmental initiative.
One focal point of the work has been the cleanup of water bodies. Efforts have been made along the Esil River, and streams Akbulak and Sarybulak, the Nura-Esil Canal, and the Small Taldykol Lake. Biomelioration technologies have been used to restore and maintain ecological conditions in these water bodies.
In the spring of 2026 alone, a month-long environmental campaign brought residents together for sanitation cleanup, beautification, and greening of areas. The campaign included themed weeks like 'Clean Stream' for cleaning up riverbanks, 'Clean City' for tidying public spaces, 'Clean Yard' for beautifying courtyards, and 'Green Future' for expanding the city's green spaces.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 300,000 residents and 9,800 enterprises and organizations have participated in environmental activities. During this time, around 6,400 courtyard areas have been cleaned up, over 1,000 tons of waste removed, and 732,300 green plants planted.
In total, more than 400 environmental events are planned in the capital for 2026. These events involve schoolchildren and students, youth, labor collectives, entrepreneurs, representatives of public organizations, and residents from various city districts.
Environmental awareness grows through concrete actions. When residents work together to care for courtyards, clean riverbanks, and plant trees, the responsibility for the city becomes a shared one.
This work will continue in the fall. From September 12 to October 10, an autumn environmental month is taking place in Astana, featuring activities geared towards sanitation, beautification, and greening of areas, including a city-wide tree planting event scheduled for September 19.
During the fall period, the plan is to plant 226,242 green plants.
Another tool for engaging residents is the Telegram chatbot @TazaQazBot, operational in Astana since 2024, which daily receives and processes queries from citizens. To date, 5,490 requests from residents have been fulfilled.
'Clean Kazakhstan' unites people around the simple and understandable goal of making the city cleaner, greener, and more comfortable. Every beautified courtyard, planted tree, and cleaned bank becomes a contribution to the capital's environmental culture.
