Road Closure in Almaty for Emergency Electrical Network Repairs
Central Street in Almaty to close from October 8-15, 2026, for urgent electrical repairs by Alatau Zharyk Company due to damaged cable.

In Almaty, the section of Central Street will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from October 8 to 15, 2026, in the Bostandyk district due to emergency repairs on electrical networks.
This was reported by Alatau Zharyk Company. The repair work will be conducted at 36 Central Street and will affect the roadway. Consequently, traffic will be restricted on the section from K. Salykova Street to Zhangir Khan Street.
The repair is necessitated by damage to the 220 kV cable line No. 2363. The 220 kV ring network around Almaty includes cable lines No. 2353 and No. 2363 between substations-160A "Ermensai" and-166A "Besagash." Damage to one line disrupts the continuity of the ring, redistributes power flow, and increases load on the remaining parts of the energy system. Currently, the network is operating in an open-ended mode.
To restore the network to regular operation and avoid potential technological failures, it is urgent to repair the damage and restore the line's integrity. Since the damaged cable line is located beneath the roadway, excavation of the road surface and concrete trench is necessary for repairs. Digging will allow technicians to precisely identify the location and nature of the damage, repair the cable or cable joint, and conduct necessary tests before reactivating the line.

The closure is solely due to emergency restoration work. Alatau Zharyk Company requests that residents and visitors of Almaty consider this temporary restriction when planning routes and understand the necessary measures to restore reliable electricity supply to the city and the Almaty agglomeration.

Pumping Station Restored in Almaty to Ensure Stable Water Supply for Over 100,000 Residents
The Industrial Zone pumping station in Almaty has been restored, enhancing water supply for over 100,000 residents, crucial during summer demand.

In Almaty, the 'Industrial Zone' pumping station has been technically relaunched after several years of inactivity. This facility provides additional capacity to the water supply system for the western part of the Alatau district, which is particularly crucial during the summer season when the network load significantly increases.
The station is designed to supply water to about 30,000 residents as well as industrial facilities. The additional capacity will enhance the stability of water supply to more than 100,000 residents in the northern part of the Nauryzbay district and the southwestern part of the Alatau district.
The station's relaunch followed comprehensive restoration efforts. After a long period of inactivity, it was necessary to conduct a technical audit, restore equipment and cable lines, and ensure that all primary engineering systems were operational.

Specialists restored the power supply, control panels, and transformer equipment, and also inspected and repaired the pumping units. Moreover, a new cable line was laid, and a series of commissioning works were completed.
The restoration work was executed by the Almaty Department of Energy and Water Supply, in collaboration with the municipal enterprise 'Almaty Su', contractors, and with the support of sponsors. As part of the social assistance provided, 2.4 km of power cable was purchased for the station.
The return to operation of the station has created an additional reserve of water supply capacity, which is of critical importance during the summer months when water consumption increases substantially.
