Participants of the 'Best Green School' City Contest Announced in Almaty

The district stage of the 'Best Green School' city contest, dedicated to the City Day, has concluded in Almaty. Sixteen schools—two from each district of the city—have advanced to the next stage, as reported by the Almaty Department of Education.

The district selection took place from August 28 to September 5. Schools submitted contest portfolios, video materials, ecological projects, and the results of their efforts in landscaping and greening their territories.

One of the key directions of the contest was the implementation of the principles of the national initiative 'Taza Kazakhstan'. Participants demonstrated how schools organize waste separation, resource conservation, eco-hubs, greenhouses, ecological volunteering, and practical activities for students.

Special attention was given to involving students, teachers, and parents. As part of their preparations, participants organized green areas and flower gardens, developed waste separation sites, and proposed their own ecological initiatives.

The city stage of the contest began on September 8 and will continue until September 16. Schools will be evaluated based on submitted materials, the activities of eco-hubs, ecological and educational projects, as well as innovative and digital solutions.

The best practices are planned to be recommended for use in other educational institutions in Almaty. The contest is part of efforts to cultivate ecological habits in children and practically engage the younger generation in implementing the principles of 'Taza Kazakhstan'.
