Renovations Completed at Boarding School No. 17 in Almaty for City Day

In Almaty, renovations and seismic strengthening of Boarding School No. 17, which accommodates 250 students, have been completed in time for the City's Day.

The building was originally constructed in 1963, with the last major renovation taking place in the early 2000s. Now, the facility is fully updated.

The project included reinforcing the load-bearing structures of both the academic and residential buildings, as well as repairs to the roof, facade, and interior spaces. All engineering networks have been completely revamped, and upgrades have been made to the fire protection systems, video surveillance, access control, and communication systems.

Facilities for students include classrooms, a computer room, an information and library center, a medical unit, a gymnasium, and a cafeteria with seating for 100.

The area around the school has also been transformed. Covering 1.35 hectares, it now features basketball and volleyball courts, play areas for children of various ages, a venue for school-wide events, relaxation zones, and pedestrian paths. The grounds have been landscaped, greened, and equipped with an outdoor lighting system.

The building also offers a barrier-free environment for children with special needs.

After the renovations, the school, which boasts a history of over 60 years, will continue to operate in safer and more comfortable conditions.

The renovation of Boarding School No. 17 is part of the broader effort to develop Almaty's educational infrastructure. This year, work is underway on 31 educational facilities throughout the city, including the construction of new schools and extensions, as well as the reconstruction and seismic enhancement of existing buildings.
