Almaty to Plant 1,500 New Plants for City Day

In Almaty, around 1,500 new plants of 32 different species are scheduled to be planted in celebration of City Day. The city has already received large-sized trees up to 3.5 meters tall, decoratively shaped conifers, standard plants, shrubs, and flowering perennials.

This was announced by the Almaty Department of Ecology and Environment.

The mature trees with tiered crowns are particularly notable. Some are styled in the garden bonsai aesthetic, with expressive forms crafted in advance and maintained as the tree grows.

Among the plants are Indian Lagerstroemia, black pine, panicle hydrangea, roses, barberry, purple coneflower, sage, vervain, and other ornamental species.

The selection for Almaty was made in collaboration with Chinese specialists. Before choosing the assortment, the city's climatic characteristics, temperature fluctuations, and wintering conditions were studied. The chosen species and varieties were selected based on their adaptation to the local climate.

The planting of these plants in urban areas will commence soon.
