Medium repairs on 15 major streets in Almaty have been completed by September 1, as part of the city's plan to enhance road conditions.
By September 1, medium repairs on 15 major streets in Almaty have been completed. This year, the city plans to repair a total of 340 streets covering 250 kilometers, aiming to improve the condition of roads with 95% being in good or satisfactory status.
The Department of Road Infrastructure Development reported that by September 1, repairs on sections of 15 major streets, totaling 32 kilometers, have been completed. The streets involved include Zenkova, Zhamakaeva, Zhetysu, Shemyakin, Mambetov, Ryskulbekova, Zhankozha Batyr, Iskenderova, Akan Sery, Manas, Gabdullin, Zhandosov, Tsentralnaya, Ushkempir, and Kulzhinsky Tract.
On sections of Zhubanov and Otegen Batyr streets, as well as Altynsarin and Abay Avenues, the lower layer of asphalt concrete has been laid. The top layer, utilizing a dense stone-mastic asphalt mix, is planned to be laid over the upcoming weekend. Road marking will follow this work.
As part of the medium repairs, the road surface across the entire width of the roadway is being renewed, along with repairs to damaged sections of sidewalks and drainage channels. Special attention is given to streets of regional significance. In the Alatau district, 99 streets will be covered this year; in Auezov district, 16 streets; in Nauryzbay, 19; in Bostandyk, 39; in Turksib, 21; in Zhetysu, 44; in Medeu, 78; and one in Almaly. To date, 70% of the work has been completed, with full completion expected by October 31.
In addition, the Department of Road Infrastructure Development continues the construction of new roads in the Akzhar, Boraldai, and Rakhat-Madeniyet neighborhoods, with a total length of 96 kilometers, of which more than 80% of the work has been completed.
