Almaty to Open 'Kalkaman' Metro Station by 2026
Almaty to unveil the 'Kalkaman' metro station by 2026, enhancing public transportation with new extensions and infrastructure upgrades.

Almaty will continue to develop its metro, roads, and public transportation systems.
A separate allocation for transportation infrastructure development is included in Almaty's revised budget, as announced by Baurzhan Kudaybergenov, head of the city's economics and finance department, during a maslikhat meeting.
The 'Kalkaman' metro station is expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Construction also began this year on the section from 'Kalkaman' to 'Barlyk' station.
To further expand the metro network, project and cost documentation will be developed for a second line from 'Zhibek Zholy' station to the airport.
In terms of road infrastructure, work will continue on extending Ryskulov Avenue to the city limits, extending Mukanov Street from Gogol Street to Raimbek Avenue, and extending Raimbek Avenue to the Eastern Bypass Road.
Road construction in the Akzhar and Terekty neighborhoods is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Additionally, road and utility infrastructure development will continue in the 'Western Gate' polycentric area.
Additional funds are allocated for subsidizing public transportation, including bus services and the metro.
According to Baurzhan Kudaybergenov, the current budget revision primarily aims to address the city's pressing issues and complete ongoing projects.
