Over 17,000 km of Power Lines Upgraded in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has completed the upgrade of over 17,000 kilometers of power lines in preparation for the autumn-winter period. This year, planned capital repair works on electrical networks were executed, which will enhance the reliability of power supply.

A total of 17.1 thousand km of power transmission lines, 444 substations, and more than 3.4 thousand distribution and transformer units were repaired. These works were carried out across all regions of the country to ensure the stable operation of the energy system during the autumn-winter load.

The largest volume of repairs was recorded in the Akmola region, where more than 2.6 thousand kilometers of power transmission lines, 49 substations, and 555 distribution and transformer units were repaired.

In the Pavlodar region, major repairs were completed on 2,444 km of power transmission lines, 52 substations, and 609 distribution and transformer units. In the Zhambyl region, over 1.8 thousand kilometers of power transmission lines, 63 substations, and 316 distribution and transformer units were repaired.

The implementation of the repair campaign ensures the readiness of the power network to handle the heating season. The State Energy Supervision and Control Committee of the Ministry of Energy continues to monitor the reliability of power facilities throughout the heating season.

Ongoing Modernization of Electrical Networks in Kyzylorda Region

The Kyzylorda Region is undergoing significant modernization of its electrical networks, targeting a reduction in wear rates and enhancing infrastructure.

Ongoing Modernization of Electrical Networks in Kyzylorda Region

The modernization of electrical networks is underway in the Kyzylorda Region.

There are 10,608 km of electrical networks and 2,068 various substations in the Kyzylorda Region. Most of these were put into operation in the 1960s and 1970s, and currently, 60% of them are considered worn out.

In 2022, 100 km of electrical networks and 32 substations with a 1 kV RP-10 were installed through 2 projects. This reduced the wear and tear of the electrical networks from 69% to 68%.

In 2023, 232 km of electrical networks and 95 substations were reconstructed under 6 projects, further reducing the wear rate from 68% to 66%.

By the end of 2024, 418 km of electrical networks and 73 substations will have been reconstructed across 10 projects. This is expected to decrease the wear rate from 66% to 62% by year's end.

Projects worth 6 billion tenge will be implemented in 2025. Specifically, 280 km of electrical networks will undergo reconstruction for 3.1 billion tenge, and 87 substations for 2.9 billion tenge.

Under the investment program of "Kyzylorda Distribution Electrical Network Company," 40.2 km of overhead lines have been reconstructed at a cost of 532.6 million tenge.

In 2026, 9 projects with a total value of 3.1 billion tenge are planned. They include the reconstruction of 240 km, 52 units of CTPS 10/0.4 kV, overhead lines 110/35 kV, and 1 substation 35 kV. This will aim to reduce the wear rate from 60% to 59%.
