Around 150,000 Astana Residents Participate in Citywide Eco Initiative
Around 150,000 residents of Astana participated in a citywide eco initiative, focusing on cleaning and greening efforts, in celebration of World Cleanup Day.
Today, on September 19, Astana hosted a large-scale citywide environmental campaign aligned with World Cleanup Day. The event took place as part of the national initiative 'Taza Kazakhstan,' according to the official website of the capital's akimat.
Approximately 150,000 city residents took part in the eco initiative. Active citizens, employees from enterprises and utility services, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, governmental bodies, public associations, apartment owners' cooperatives (KSK) and management companies, as well as youth, students, and volunteers joined the initiative.
In total, 5,100 enterprises and organizations participated in the event, covering around 4,000 business entities. The eco initiative was also supported by 124 educational institutions, bringing together about 5,000 students and teachers. Additionally, more than a thousand representatives from the banking sector took part.
One of the main focuses of the campaign was the greening of the capital. More than 6,000 saplings were planted in the city, including willow, maple, linden, and other tree species.
The greening efforts were carried out at EXPO grounds, within the Presidential Park, along the 'Myngzhyldyk' alley and Green Line, as well as along Uly Dala and Kabanbay Batyr Avenues, Keneasary Street, and other city landscapes.
During the environmental campaign, participants cleaned up yards, parks, squares, public areas, and sites around enterprises and organizations. As a result of the activities, over 1,500 tons of waste were collected and disposed of.
The citywide initiative is part of the autumn environmental month 'Taza Kazakhstan,' which continues across all districts of Astana. Its main goal is to unite residents, business representatives, organizations, and public institutions around the issues of maintaining cleanliness, improvement, and greening of the capital, as well as fostering a respectful attitude towards the environment.
