Kazakhstan and Czech Republic Expand Cooperation in Modernizing Utility Infrastructure

Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic are continuing to develop joint projects aimed at modernizing utility infrastructure. A meeting took place at the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, where Vice-Minister Kuandyk Kazhkenov met with a delegation from the Czech Republic, led by Deputy Minister of Environment Martin Weiss.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Committee on Construction and Housing and Utilities, JSC KazCenter ZhKH, as well as Czech government agencies and research organizations specializing in water management and utility infrastructure.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in modernizing water supply and wastewater systems, as well as the construction and upgrading of treatment facilities. Discussions focused on the implementation of modern technology and digital solutions in the utility sector.

Kuandyk Kazhkenov emphasized that improving the quality of water supply and wastewater services is one of the Ministry's priorities. He also noted that there is a particular focus on updating utility infrastructure and reducing the wear and tear of existing networks and facilities.

As part of the National Project 'Modernization of Energy and Utility Sectors,' plans are in place to upgrade approximately 8,000 km of water supply and wastewater networks, and implement 45 projects on wastewater treatment facilities.

The Czech side presented its developments in water monitoring and quality, wastewater treatment, design and operation of water management facilities, pumping equipment, as well as BIM aspects and digitalization, sewer system and pipeline diagnostics.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed interest in developing joint initiatives in the field of utility infrastructure modernization, according to the report.
