Astana Prepares for Winter with Surplus Heat Capacity

Astana is entering the upcoming heating season with a surplus of heat capacity. The capital is finalizing preparations of existing heat supply facilities, while simultaneously implementing projects for the modernization and construction of new heat sources, as reported by the official website of the city administration.

Currently, the central heating system of the capital includes five main energy sources: CHPP-1, CHPP-2, CHPP-3, and the gas-fired thermal stations 'Turan' and 'South-East'.

Having a reserve allows the city to meet its demands during the forthcoming heating period and provides an additional buffer in case of increased load. Meanwhile, Astana continues to boost its heat capacity in response to population growth and the active development of the city.

Presently, construction of the coal section of CHPP-3 is ongoing, along with expansion and reconstruction of the hot water boiler house at CHPP-2, with the installation of boilers No.7 and No.8.

One of the key new facilities will be the 'Telmana' gas-fired thermal station with a capacity of 620 Gcal/h. Its commissioning is planned for this year, which will further increase the reserve of heat capacity and enhance the reliability of the city's heat supply.

Thus, Astana is entering the heating season with the necessary heat capacity surplus, while also creating additional reserves for the future. This will ensure reliable heating supply for both existing developments and new areas of the capital as they develop.
