Mayor of Almaty Instructs to Speed Up Projects with Low Progress Rates

The Mayor of Almaty, Darkhan Satibaldi, conducted an extensive meeting with city department heads and municipal service officials to discuss socio-economic development and the readiness of projects funded by the budget.

As reported by the head of the construction department, Nurbol Nursagatov, a total of 94 projects are currently underway in the city. Among these, 32 projects are nearly completed, 28 are slated for completion by the end of the year, and 34 projects will carry over into the next year.

The education sector sees the highest number of projects, with 31 underway. This includes completed new schools in the Zerdeli and Sayaly neighborhoods and a kindergarten. Additionally, several projects aimed at the reconstruction and seismic reinforcement of schools have been realized.

In the healthcare sector, 13 projects are being carried out, including three new clinics with a capacity of 500 visits per shift in the Altai-1 and Shugyla neighborhoods and on Ayteke Bi Street, as well as new buildings for two maternity hospitals.

Housing construction and acquisition for socially vulnerable citizens and public sector workers continues. Projects in sports, culture, administrative facilities, and road infrastructure in urban polycenters are also in progress.

The Mayor tasked responsible leaders with ensuring project deadlines and emphasized a focus on projects that are lagging in progress.
